And thank you REM for keeping me alive all these years so I could continue to love your music. It’s so incredible to see the 4 of them together again! Most people discount REM without even listening or trying to understand how incredible they are and that they are the best band of all time. I still have a huge crush on Bill.

    awesome

@painxtreme I agree with your analogy. As to how old we’ve all become…yes I feel that sometimes but then I remember the ’80′s – well what I can remember of the ’80′s and I don’t feel so old. It is the news of my nest of cancers that make me feel old. Hey, at least I’ll get to see some great concerts on the Other Side. :) No Fear.

I’m still looking for a “Flowers of Guatemala” real video, either performance or actual video by R.E.M….anyone have any links?? This is just beyond great, thanks so much for uploading this!

@painxtreme Wow, that analogy nails it – comparing their early music to impressionist art. Very just to compare it with a Monet, a Chagall: diffused light, beautiful, mysterious landscapes – that does capture early REM.

  9. painxtreme

@Terpguy00 It was in their top 10, just not in any top ten list’s top ten. I pick REM over a Top Ten list.

@marcoamedrano it IS the greatest EP ever. When they first came to Lawrence, I told my friends that not only was was his voice a haunting 4th instrument, we had just seen what Impressionist Art would sound like. B4 the intelligible lyrics days, there were new treats to be found with every listen, Asking nice would sometimes snag me a lyric, but it was better to let them linger in the fog like a Monet. I look at JMS now, and myself in the mirror, and I just want to cry at how old we’ve all become

Best song from maybe the greatest rock EP ever released. Even sung clearly by Michael, the lyrics remain enigmatic. And soooo great to see the complete band together!

I’m only 27 and this music came out when I was a young kid. These guys are one of the most underrated groups of all time. I think anyone who considers themselves a lover of all music must rate REM among the elite. A truly unique style and sound that is breathtaking and inspiring every time I listen. Their music sends your mind on a winged journey, soaring over God’s beautiful creation. Stipe’s passion is undeniable. There will never be another REM; as special as the likes of the Beatles.

    Bill rules.

  14. TheLeftyGrove

I love their choices of songs for their induction.

I love their perfect band dynamics

I love their all-at-once beautiful and difficult-to-interpret songs.

But, most of all, I love to see Bill with the sticks here.

Gardening at night = pissing by the side of the road…at night!

@StinkiwinkiPoo This was at their Hall of Fame induction. Bill played since he was being honored.

  17. StinkiwinkiPoo

its bill there. how could be when the concert is from 2007??? thought he left the band before….!?!?!

  18. JohnnyCagePro

great song and performance, these guys are living legends.

  19. Terpguy00

This song is so much better than the stuff I hear on the radio these days and yet it wasn’t even in REM’s top 10 list.. That shows you just how talented they are.

  20. amanita5

    the 4 re-united. Miss u Bill!!

  23. painxtreme

REM are the Impressionist Art Master of Modern Music

  24. Bizqit16

Michael is just so damn cool. I wish I was a quarter as cool as he is.

  25. filltheband

Love the song but it’s still In The City meets Holidays in the Sun. And Bill is slow (but not as slow as Max Weinberg has got)
